Onyinyechi Iwuoha is a seasoned lawyer with over eight (8) years’ experience in corporate finance, banking, commercial law, mergers & acquisitions and regulatory advisory services. She has advised on a total of circa $150bn deals across different sectors of the Nigerian economy involving key development finance institutions and Pan African banks across Sub-Saharan Africa.

She led the team that advised Vitol Energy Plc, a leading energy and commodities company, in 23 countries across the globe, in a US$10 million facility granted to SEPLAT Petroleum Development Company Plc, one of Nigeria’s foremost indigenous upstream exploration and production company and a leading supplier of processed gas to the domestic market, which entailed the collateralization of shares in a public quoted company.

In 2019, Onyinyechi was one of the eighteen (18) African lawyers out of over 3,000 applications across Africa selected for the International Lawyers for Africa (ILFA) Flagship Secondment Programme (FSP). Under the FSP, she was seconded for 3 months to the law firm of Latham & Watkins London, a leading international law firm recognized for its handling of complex cross-border matters for corporates and governments in the UK and throughout the world.

During her time as a secondee, she was involved in notable transactions including advising a group of sponsors on a US$15billion Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) project in Mozambique. The project is projected to be the biggest LNG project in Africa. She also compiled a World Bank Report on Women’s rights in Tanzania under the Latham and Watkins LLP Pro Bono programme.

Onyinyechi was ranked as a “Rising Star” in Banking and Project Finance in Nigeria in International Financial Law Review (IFLR 1000) for four consecutive years from 2018. The ESQ Nigeria Legal Awards also ranked her as one of the leading lawyers under the age of 40.

She is a member of the Banking and Securities Law Committee, Corporate and M&A law Committee and Women Lawyers Interest Group of the International Bar Association.
